The alcohol industry has taken advantage of team sports in Australia. Using it as a platform to present hundreds of advertisements for their products to the large sporting audience, marketers have managed to turn what was once an event that was all about team spirit into an event all about team spirits, where the winner is the person who can drink the most.

It's time we took alcohol advertisements out of the game so that we can start focussing on the teams that truly deserve our attention.
